The Otaku House Cosplay Idol is completed and the results are out!
The Results
*Bllacksheep is honored to say that he has been awarded 3rd place! The competition was rocky but we were happy he placed in the top three.
Our Gratitude
*Bllacksheep and I cannot thank everyone enough. Seriously. We received a shocking amount of support and were so amazed by the positive reception and cheers he was receiving. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who voted! We are so incredibly grateful to everyone. We are considering doing a raffle with everyone who voted, and while it's a tiny thing we want to show our appreciation in anyway that we can. Here's a link to many of the people who voted: My Shoutout Journal I was trying to give shout outs to everyone, however I'm sure there are many more!
Campaigning
Our biggest displeasure was to see that one of the contestants that placed was very actively using "Vote Trading" websites. When discovering this, I admittedly wanted to fight fire with fire.... However, *Bllacksheep strongly discouraged this and only wanted to campaign fairly. We brought the news to OtakuHouse and in the end, to put it simply, they said it was "inconsequential". They gave us a vague warning saying people had complained about us as well (I'm not sure why. And if they really did, I can assure you it was unjustified :/ ), so we decided to stop campaigning for the last few days of the competition as not to upset anyone. Due to this we fell down to third place. It was a shame but it was *Bllacksheep's choice to do so out of fairness.
Yet despite all of this, helping *Bllacksheep campaign for this competition was a joy! I met so many wonderful cosplayers and got to talk to so many of you about your costumes and cosplay experiences! And what literally shocked me the most, was that out of the 1000s of people that I spoke to, I have to say only about 10-20 of them were really mean and rude towards me. There has been this general idea going around that "The cosplay community is going down hill!!!" - and while I agree it's changing, I saw that the majority of cosplayers are incredibly kind and supportive of one another.
Here are some of the very kind comments we received (anonymously): It is rare to have such a supportive environment! I am proud to be part of this community with you guys! <3
